Hypervelocity Asteroid Interceptor Vehicle
Hypervelocity Asteroid Interceptor Vehicle (HAIV) is a concept project initiated by our client, Dr. Bong Wie, that utilizes an optical and infrared detection and tracking system to aim a explosive missile towards asteroids on a destruction path towards Earth. With the limited budget on hand, we did not implement the infrared part of the project but was only able to work on the optical part. Although it may not function perfectly, we will show that it is a viable system for space use.
